1998 GMC Sonoma Question: I replaced the starter and batter and I still won't start any ideas

I left my lights on and the battery died I replaced battery and starter but I still won't start

    no it doesnt do anything when i turn the key

    check for power going to starter you need someone to turn the ignition on while you check for power going to the small wire on starter

    ok and if i find out it doesnt have power what does that mean? what do i check it with a test light or a volt meter or what?

    use a test light if you have no power cross the two wires with a screwdriver and see if it turns over

    you probably have a bad ignition switch or a broken wire
