If you hear a annoying squealing sound the brake pads may be worn to the point where they are touching the wear indicators (part of the brake pad it's self. If you actually hear a grinding sound on brake application you may need more than brake pads , you may need new brake pads and brake rotors or at a minimum have the rotors machined. but an inspection is required to see what is needed. I like Centrics 105 series brake pads or Wagner thermoquite.
