If the brakes were dragging for some reason on one side the ABS sensor would sense a wheel rotating slower and bring on the light. Does the vehicle pull to one side or can you tell which side is noising? Obviously need to inspect you work again and see if there are marks from contact or metal filings? There is a company that independent auto repair shops get their information from, this same information is available inexpensively for people that work on their own cars.. The information is year make and model specific, covering repair procedures, torque specifications, fluid capacities and specifications, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... Alldata is very easy to navigate http://bit.ly/AllData_Repair_Manuals_Online I wonder if the calipers or one caliper was about to fail and putting in brake pads caused failure. Are the guide pins free and allowing the caliper to move freely.

I agree with Patrick. Sounds like one of the wheel cylinders may have gone bad causing the caliper to lock on the rotor. Pull calipers off and make sure slider pins have free movement in and out. If not lube them till they do. Make sure these are all in there too http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/2003-Ford-Explorer...
