We changed spark plugs and wires last night and still badly misfiring. We are thinking it might be the coil pack. Please help.

very well could be. it is a common failure. try it as it is easy to replace. if it does not fix it. you will need a compression test and injector test.

Should we have a diagnostic test done first since we already know where the misfire is or save time and some money and do the coil pack next? When we removed the spark plug in 2 it was the only one that had oil on it.

oil may be from the tube the plugs was in. a coil is a safe bet at this point. it is not too expensive and easy to change. if it does not work, then off to a shop for a real diag.

I agree with the coil diagnosis.I just went through this with my '02,after doing plugs, wires, and manifold gaskets.
