2003 Chevrolet Impala

Question: I have a blown head gasket.

I have 1 mechanic that wants me to replace engine instead of fix head gasket, because the bottom of engine can blow out. The other mechanic says to just fix gasket and I should be fine.

    i am on the side of the first guy. when you have a blown head gasket, the bearings could be damaged and fail shortly. we try to sell the bearings with the head gasket and if they dont do it, we reccomend an engine. you will not be happy if you spent all that money on a head gasket job and had bearing failure shortly after. it would not be the techs fault either.
