would a bad crank sensor make your car run rough and cut off

  Yes it could to test the sensor properly you need an oscilloscope to look at the output pattern of the crank sensor.

• I have a 98 740i, need help in changing the headlight assembly
  does the cross member have to come off to replace the assebly?

• check engine codes 420, 430 & 1622
  Check engine light is on & these codes come up. Car has had aftremarket cats installed it has 98,000 miles on it is in good shape otherwise as it has always been garage kept. tx, Doug
