I also have no power at all when this happens.I have heard it can be in the throttle body or possibly the brake lite switch not sure how to trouble shoot this?

MasterYou will need to take it to someone that has a factory compatible scan tool. Your average parts store does not have the capabilty to check this system. It could be as simple has haveing the bascic settings reset but a proper scanner is a must. Seek a VW specilty shop might be a good start.
