Question: I have a 2001 Chevy 1500 Express Van & the Oil Pressure is low. Any suggestions?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I am also trying to remove the drain plug on the oil pan and it is stripped. Is there a way to easily remove it and fix it? Thank you very much for the help. :-)

    do a manual oil pressure test to start with a poss use vise grips on plug then repl it

    Hi Greg,

    Thank you sir very much for your response! Can you please tell me the best way to do a manual oil pressure check? I am thinking that the pressure is low due to the viscosity of the oil....am I way off on that thought? I am going to try vice grips today as well. I have tried several things and it will not BUDGE!!! If that does not work, do you have any other suggestions I can try? Again, I greatly appreciate your response...thanks again! Aly

    u need a oil pressure gauge with a fitting that is same size as oil sending unit. pull oil sender and replace with gauge and hose,then start eng and ck pressure.if vise grips won't work seek help as to not damage oil pan and also have pressure test done at same time.
