Question: i had to replace the cylinder and key but wont start

i used one from a 1992 lesabre

    The system will not let that key start the engine as it has no chip or the wrong one in it! Get some help from a locksmith or let a mechanic check it out.
    May be able to cut a key from the new one that has the right resistance chip in it. Will need the orginal key also.
    Locksmith should know what to do.
