The car is running but I can't shift

    Mitsubishi use a cable that goes from the brake pedal assembly and a steering lock cable so you can't start the car in gear without having first put your foot on the brake pedal (doing so mechanically pulls a linkage allowing the transmission lever to be taken out of Park. Disassemble would be needed to see what in particular has failed. There is a company that independent auto repair shops get their information from, this same information is available inexpensively for people that work on their own cars.. The information is year make and model specific, covering repair procedures, torque specifications, fluid capacities and specifications, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect....
