Excessive engine noise may be noted after a cold start. If the engine oil level is correct this type of noise is commonly caused by faulty timing chain tensioners. Our technicians tell us that revised chain tensioners are available to correct this issue.
A hesitation on acceleration may be noted when the engine is warm. The Check Engine Light may or may not illuminate. The is commonly caused by a faulty oxygen (O2) sensor. An undated oxygen sensor is available to correct this issue.

Hyundai Veracruz Recalls
An engine oil leak from the front valve cover gasket could result in enough oil leaking onto the alternator to cause its failure. An alternator failure will cause the charging system warning light to illuminate. Driving the vehicle in this condition for a unknown period of time will result in the engine stalling, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and repair or replace the alternator and front valve cover gasket as necessary to correct this concern.
The affected vehicles are being recalled because the brake light switch can fail prematurely, resulting in the loss of brake light operation. Other systems that may be affected include: cruise control, push-button start, gear shifter, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system. Dealers will replace the brake light switch to correct this concern.
The clock spring electrical contact for the driver's airbag may become damaged through normal usage over time. The electrical circuit will experience a high resistance condition and in the event of a crash, the driver's airbag will not deploy, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the contact assembly as necessary to correct this condition. The Hyundai recall number is 103.
