Hyundai Elantra Recall 08V694000
Weak Fuel Pump Pressure - Puerto Rico Vehicles Only
The fuel pump delivers fuel to the engine. On some vehicles sent to Puerto Rico, there may be an electrical issue with the pump, which may keep the pump from providing enough fuel to the engine. This can cause poor engine starting and power issues.
We at RepairPal have designated this a high priority recall; a fuel pump that does not provide enough fuel can cause a safety issue. Please contact your Hyundai dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The fuel pump may have internal electrical issues that prevent proper fuel pressure from being developed. This can cause hard starting and poor performance. Dealers will replace the fuel pump subassembly. The Hyundai Puerto Rico recall number is 086. This recall began on February 9, 2009.
