Question: HVAC Controller

My BMW needs a new HVAC controller. My mechanic said it's a $4,000 part from BMW. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a cheaper way to go?

    Hey, give these guys a look, they list a repair for 3-series climate control modules. http://bit.ly/8z7rcm
    Look around too, there are several sites online that offer rebuilding of electronic components. Have a good description of the symptoms you have so they will know if their repairs address your issue.

    Ive experienced it before, and went to the junk yard and got mine, and had some guys put it in.

    Some companies remanufacture or repair the contollers perhaps contact these people http://www.bba-reman.com/catalogue/Index.aspx?category=3
    or closer to home maybe theses people would have a suggestion

    They do a lot of re-manufactured computers for fuel injection and ignition, they may know someone that may repair your controller.
    After that I would say look at BMW specific forums and see what other BMW owners have to say. The price seems ridicules.
