Hummer Maintenance Procedures - Common Additional Services

Hummer Air Filter Replacement

The air filter accumulates dust and debris and should be replaced to protect the engine and maximize fuel economy. For optimal engine performance and longevity, replace every 1 year or 15,000 miles.

Hummer Automatic Transmission Fluid Change

Automatic transmission fluid becomes heat fatigued and accumulates moisture over time which can lead to automatic transmission damage if not serviced regularly. It should be replaced every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

Hummer Automatic Transmission Fluid/Filter Change

Automatic transmission fluid becomes heat fatigued and accumulates moisture over time which can lead to automatic transmission damage if not serviced regularly. The filter should be replaced at this time a well. This service should be performed every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

Hummer Brake Fluid Replacement/Flush

Brake fluid accumulates moisture and contamination from component wear over time and unless replaced every 30,000 miles or 2 years, can cause brake system damage.

Hummer Coolant Replacement/Flush

Engine coolant breaks down, gets rusty and becomes contaminated with debris from component wear over time and can cause engine or cooling system damage if not replaced every 2 years or 30,0000 miles.

Hummer Differential Fluid Replacement - Front

Differential fluid breaks down and becomes contaminated with moisture over time and can lead to differential damage from a lack of proper lubrication. It should be replaced every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

Hummer Differential Fluid Replacement - Rear

Differential fluid breaks down and becomes contaminated with moisture over time and can lead to differential damage from a lack of proper lubrication. It should be replaced every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

Hummer Drive Belt(s) Replacement

Drive belts crack and become glazed over time and can squeak or even break. They should be replaced every 45,000 miles.

Hummer Fuel Filter Change

The Fuel Filter becomes restricted as it accumulates debris from filtering the fuel which, can lead to performance problems and early fuel pump failure. It should be replaced at the mileage interval recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.

Hummer Manual Transmission Fluid Change

The Manual Transmission fluid breaks down and becomes contaminated with moisture over time and can lead to transmission damage from a lack of proper lubrication. It should be replaced every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

Hummer Spark Plug Replacement

Spark Plug terminals wear down over time and can lead to engine misfires and increased exhaust emissions. Replace according to the vehicle manufacturers recommended replacement interval.

Hummer Transfer Case Fluid Replacement

Transfer Case fluid breaks down and becomes contaminated with moisture over time and can lead to transfer case damage from a lack of proper lubrication. It should be replaced every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

Hummer Scheduled Maintenance Parts

In order to run, the engine needs a precise mixture of fuel and air. When outside air is drawn into the engine, the air filter prevents harmful dirt and debris from entering the system.
Automatic transmission fluid is a lightweight oil that is used to operate the hydraulic mechanisms in an automatic transmission, provide lubrication, and act as a coolant for the transmission. When new, it's usually a cranberry red color.
Coolant is the fluid that flows through the engine’s cooling system. Its main purpose is to transfer heat generated by the engine to the radiator so the engine doesn’t overheat.
Engine oil provides lubrication for all internal moving parts of an engine. It also helps conduct heat away from these components.
The oil drain plug gasket seals the oil drain plug where it connects to the oil pan.
The engine oil filter removes contaminants from the engine oil before it circulates throughout the engine.
The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) filter, or crankcase emission filter, is connected to the fresh air side of the PCV system. Its purpose is to filter outside air before it enters the engine crankcase.
The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve controls the pressure of accumulating gases in the engine crankcase by venting them back into the intake manifold.
As components in a transmission wear, the transmission filter sifts the debris.

2006 Hummer H3

I had to replace my engine block in my H3 and now 10 months later my throttle body needed cleaning - is this separate from a new engine block or part of the engine block? If part of the engine block, should I need this repair so soon or should it be covered?

I took my H3 in for an $19.95 oil change and was told I need to have the brake fluid change, a $125.00 extra cost. I'm just under 40,000 miles. I was told the break fluid should be change at 40,000. Is that right?

2008 Hummer H3

I have a transmission slippage issue that I believe has lead to a second engine failure (First for excessive oil consumption at around 80,000 Kilometers vehicle mileage) I experienced a random intermittent problem that occurs usually when I go to accelerate from a traffic signal the speedometer drops to zero and my automatic transmission feels like the clutches are slipping. I then nurse the vehicle to the side of the road, turn off the engine and then re-start. The problem usually goes away....
