Car will crank but will shut off; it stopped cranking installed a crank sensor and it started back cranking but wont stay cranked; when the crank sensor was removed the old one was bent or dented like something had almost crushed it. Could a loose timing chain cause this?

poss tensioner issues inside timing cover which will make chain loose.pull valve cover and look with flash light and see if chain is loose or jumped time
