When putting auto in Reverse and idling out of the garage, it "jerks" and does not run smooth. Also, going up hills from 50-60 mph, it has a really rough (rpm shift--not shift in gears). At stop signs, it runs really rough. In park, it idles just fine. Could this be EGR Valve, or engine idle circuit? How do you replace the EGR Valve?

expensive guess and probably not the problem. go to a shop and get a real diag with a bid.

There are no codes that have shown up, so was not sure if I wanted to take it to a shop until I first got some input from people on this site who have experienced the same thing. We just had the transmission rebuilt, and the transmission tech said that our issues now were likely due to the EGR valve, or idle circuit. Just checking for some more input before taking it to another shop. Thanks.

it is the EGR valve. my 2004 kia optima does the exact same thing and i took it to get the diag test and it said EGR valve. i ordered it and will pick it up monday and install it and ill let you know if it solves the issue.
