Iam unable to remove the cv joint from the transmission. I have tried pounding it out, used pry bar even tried an air hammer. It will not come out. What am I doing wrong!

MasterI am unsure on the 4x4 E46 but if it is anything like a E53, there should be a circlip on the shaft into the box. using a crowbar/bar of some kind, levering and shocking the cv shaft out.
To confirm, ring BMW and simply ask to be directed to the workshop in concern to repairs to a car in your "workshop". You might be lucky and get the info you need
