1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Question: How to remove the crank pulley

Question

hello,

A little problem with my crank pulley. For some reason the crank pulley has moved to its right (away from the motor block), thus not alining with the other pulleys. Trying to loosen the 15mm bolt to no avail since the whole engine is turning. Greatly appreciate any suggestions.
cheers

The pulleys are normally held with a special tool, unless you can get an impact gun to remove the crank bolt.
It's a good idea to get a repair manual if your going to work on your own vehicle, and it's never been easier or less expensive to get a good one for your vehicle. Try http://bit.ly/alldata_repair_manuals or http://bit.ly/mitchell_repair_manuals_online and you can have one in minutes, for less than $30.00.
Read up on the job you are about to perform, it will show you what special tools you will need and you will be much better prepared to tackle any job on your vehicle.

Looks like you are going to have to use an impact wrench or try a pry bar and lightly turn of the ignition switch. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
