trying to go on internet and help boyfriend...he is trying to relieve tension on 1995 dodge caravan 3.0 v6.....money very tight trying to fix on own

    I believe you are likely talking about the belt tensioner. The tensioner has to be moved one way or another to relieve the tension. It either has a bolt head to put a long wrench on to move and will need long for access or has a square hole spot on the front to put a ratchet or breaker bar in to allow for movement. Be aware that when moved and remove belt out of the way the tensioner will move farther than when belt is on as it comes to rest position so allow for any interference.
