Welcom. Car is not parked like on a hill or some place you usually don't park is it?
Reason i ask if on hill and park brake not applied, may be hard to get out of park.

Both other responses correct , but this time I didn't see a mention of the brake light switch itself , so I felt this OCD need to mention it ...SORRY GUYS! Hope the fix is simple.

Read your owner's manual cover to cover. It's in there. Remove the cubbyhole/ pocket to the right of the shifter by pulling up on it. Reach in and fiddle the pink part with your finger. Repeat as needed until you can get it fixed. Have every driver practice this BEFORE the day comes when it is required.
