In order to check the trouble code causing the check engine light to come on, you will need a scan tool. These are available at your local auto parts store, but they are not always cheap, and they will only tell you what the code(s) is. From there, you'll need diagnostic help and someone who knows how to fix the underlying problem.

1993 has On Board Diagnostics level !. In the engine compartment is a diagnostic socket with two pins marked E1 and T1. bridge these two pins with a paper clip, turn on the ignition key to on (but engine not running) the Check Engine Light will flash long flashes and short flashes. the long flashes are "tens" the short flashes are "ones". ie two long flashes followed by five short flashes are 25. If there are more than one code several codes will flash like More code and when all codes are displayed the process repeats displaying all codes again so don't worry if you missed the codes the first time. If you can interpret the codes I can tell you what each code stands for.
