Question: How to chec to see if fuel pump is working?

My car died driving down the road and won't start. Im trying to see if the fuel pump is the problem. How would i start to see if the fuel pump is the problem.

    very simply to just take a long screw driver and with the handle up against the lower portion of your ear push the screw driver tip up against the metal portion of your gas fill tube while someone turns the ignition to the on position without cranking the motor over. You should hear the pump whine it's 3 second prime. Or you could go buy a fuel pressure gauge and attach it to the fuel supply to the engine. {You didn't hear it from me} you could disconnect your fuel filter and with some rubber hose, attach the hose to the fuel pipe coming from the fuel tank and then into a container and start cranking the engine. Only make sure your ignition system has been deactivated.
