2002 Dodge Intrepid Question: how to change the thermostat

every intruction manual says to follow the radiator hose and undo the 2 bolts... well theres more than 2 bolts and we are having trouble, not sure where to start it seems to be buried in the middle of the engine...

    I would guess there is three bolts from the illlustration I just looked at, although they don't expressly show the third one. I think to provide constant pressure to the gasket, there would have to be three.

    The thermostat housing has one large radiator hose going to it, and one heater hose as an off-shoot.
