The Thermostat is part of the Cooling System which maintains your car's engine running at optimum temperature. Replacing the thermostat not always resolve temperature problems. i don't know about the 2.2 but the 2.5 is located on the bottom of the car at the end of the top radiator hose

are in the end of the lower hose radiator-motor. remove the hose and bolts.
