2002 Ford Expedition Question: How to change oil pan

You don't need to remove the transmission.
It helps to know whether you have the 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive versions, and whether you have a single overhead cam (SOHC) or dual overhead cam (DOHC) engine, the procedures are different for the different combinations of options. No matter what, you have to lift the engine to get clearance in the 2 wheel drives, and you have to drop the front drive axle to get the oil pan off the 4 wheel drive versions. On the DOHC engine, my resource says you need to remove the intake manifold.
