1996 Ford Escort Question: how much would a water pump cost to replace?

last night when i was driving in town, my car stated making a really loud noise: like something was dragging on the ground. when u lift up the hood and look at the belt it whipps and makes a loud noise

    You can't really see the water pump without removing the timing cover since it's driven by the timing belt, not the accessory drive belt.
    I think it would be better to get to car to a repair shop and let an expert check it.

    pays 2.7 hours to replace.
    .8 for the thermostat
    flush is 79
    think about replacing the timing belt while they are doing this. it is an additional 1 hour in labor with 40 for the belt.
    good preventive maintenance.
