engine light stays on and mechanic says probably need to replace catalytic converters (California standards)

    probably??? you need someone who can tell you for real if it needs to be replaced. this is an expensive project and a guess is not good enough.

    according to alldata, factory converters are 1450 per side and you have 2. 1 hour in labor.

    I would shop around for a california certified converters for a better price before jumping into this.

    make sure both are bad first. you may only need one side replaced but a real diag form a real shop will verify.
