Question: How much should it cost to replace the transfer case?

Jeep Jean, 3.7L V6, Statesboro, GA, July 30, 2012, 11:00
 Rookie

First they (Jeep dealer) said I needed a new drive shaft. OK, replaced that. That did not make the noise go away. ..so now, they say I need a new transfer case.

    Drain the oil out of transfer case and look for metal signs. if there is metal, yes you need to replace it or rebuild it.I had good luck rebuilding the unit. check with a transmission shop and your area, they should be able to do it for less than a new unit. Good luck!
