HOw much should it cost to fix a tranny leak? on 2000 Isuzu Trooper

I had the fluid flushed, filter replaced, and fluid replaced yesterday for $270. It is leaking a lot! Was that a total waste of $? why didn't the mechanic suggest fixing the leak first?

When I asked mechanic to show me how to check tranny fluid (difficult on a Trooper, no dipstick) he showed me while the car was on the lift. I asked about all the tranny fluid all over the underside of the car. He said it had some small leaks and he could call me with the estimate. I had to call him 48 hrs later and then he said it would be $320 to replace accumulator and we could do it in a week. Within 4 days the car would not shift into reverse or drive.

What service did you request when you talked to manager? Was it leaking before this work?

Car was not "jumping" upon acceleration from a stop, but that ran fine. I did tell him I had tranny fluid on garage floor, so obviously there was a leak. Car was wet underneath, too.
