1999 Mazda B2500 Question: How much should I expect to be charged for timing belt replacement.?

 Rookie

My truck broke down, i had it towed to repair shop, they informed me that the timing belt broke, but they could have it replaced the next day for approx $800. Is that about the normal cost for this job?

    Repairpal Estimator states $263-$335 for labor and $46-$71 for parts bringing the total to $309-$406. This does not include the timing belt tensioner which is about an extra $40 and no extra cost for labor. They are charging you about double according to this information.
