How much oil is needed to be added to a new air comprssor?

    My information says "If no signs of oil leaks in the system and compressor is being replaced add 6 oz of oil to the compressor prior to installation, a factory replacement arrives with 10oz of oil in it of which four ounces need to be removed". There is a company that independent auto repair shops get their information from, this same information is available inexpensively for people that work on their own cars.. The information is year make and model specific, covering repair procedures, torque specifications, fluid capacities and specifications, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect....
