2003 Dodge Neon Question: How much does it cost to replace timing belt?

She was driving at the time when the belt broke. So the mechanic said there maybe more damage and could cost $350 to $800. Depending on whether there is any damage to the cover or the pistons. Is this cost about right? -

One can take off the valve cover to check if any of the valves are bent. 2. If unable to determine if any valve are bent, there may not be any damage, but you can't tell until the timing belt is replaced and you recheck. Potential Causes: Information Only Tech Tips: It may have internal damage, valves or pistons. You can have a Cylinder Leakdown Test performed also to find a bent valve. -
