Question
We took the lincoln to a gararge and they said all eight (in six cylindar engin?)ignition coils had to be replaced along with the sparkplugs. They quoted $727. That's a long way off from your quote. Just how many coils are in a six cylindar car?
The problem is that the engine skips, both while at a stop light and while moving in town. It is not bad just a little hickup. The car has just a little over 50,000 miles.

a lot of places reccomend replacing the coils with the plugs, I do. if one fails, the otheres will be close behind. the coils are around 94 a piece. the tune up is about 129. 727 sounds like a good price. we look more expensive. if you do not trust them, get another opinion.

I have a 2005 Lincoln LS V8 and have 8 coils, one per cylinder. Your car being a V6 should only have 6. Never-the-less, I have had multiple go out. There is a 100,000 mile factory warranty on that part. I had a ford dealership make me aware of that when I was facing an estimate of 1200.00 to fix 3 that went out (they were saying $350. a coil). I am now over a 100,000 miles and had a couple more go out. Here's what to do, find out your part number for the coils and search on ebay. I bought 4 for something like $16.50, took it to a local mechanic and had him put in for 100 bucks. I watched him do it, it is very easy because each coil is located on top of each cylinder so all it takes it taking apart the framing top portion and inserting each coil in.
Answer #3
You have 6 ignition coils and 6 spark plugs. The ignition coils call for 1 hour to replace on the left bank and 2.7 hours on the right bank. Hope this helps!
