Question: How long between oil change

I`ve got a 2007 FX4 with a 5.4L engine on which I`ve been changing the oil every 5000 km (3125 miles) since new. The Ford dealer tells me that 7000-8000 km (approx. 4700 miles). is good enough for this type of engine now. Could you please comment this.
