Need help locating thermostat on a 96 Ford Taurus with a 3.0L V6 DOHC?

    nromally at the end of the upper radiator hose

    the thermostat is in a housing on the left side of the engine. It will have a short hose coming from manifold above water pump. The housing is black on one half, gray on the other. Be careful when you tug on that hose because there is a plastic ' Y ' shaped elbow. The plastic is brittle, and it will break. It is a formed half rubber radiator hose with plastic flanges. Very brittle and $128 to replace it. Be extra careful to get the thermostat housing spinning out of that rubber hose before you try to force or pry or pull on it to get it loose.

    I just noticed your taurus is a '96 I've described the thermostat housing for a DOHC '02 3.0
