2001 Hyundai XG300 Question: how do you test plug wires and coils on the XG300?

Number 1 cylinder misfire, changed spark plug with no change to problem, need to know how to test coil

    I don't know how well your tool box is stocked so we will assume you don't have a lot of diagnostic tools. you can put a spark plug on the end of the cyl.1 plug wire and hold the boot with pliers about a 1/4" from a metal ground. have someone turn over the engine and see if you get spark it should be a strong bright blue. No spark present, try to swap with another wire plugged on the coil cyl.1 spot, and see if you get spark, if you do you have a bad wire, if not coil is probably bad. However misfire can be caused by fuel injector problem, and valve or compression loss too. Hope this helps, Good Luck
