front axle bearings are behind the front wheels supporting the outer part of the axle shaft. the inner support is in the transaxle assembly and must be removed and disassemble to gain access.

the fronts are replaced by removing the spindle assembly and pressing the hub and bearing out. you need a press to perform this operation.

How big of a job is this? Do you need special tools to make the repairs?
    Thanks Roy

to remove the transaxle, yes. there are many specials you need. a lift is the most important tool.
as far as the wheel bearings, the press is the most important tool there.
