Question: How do you know if you need to replace the inner tie rod or the outer tie rod

    You have to lift up the front of vehicle but you need a helper too. As your helper puts his hand on the whheel on 9 oclock and 3 oclack he forces the tire to turn to left and right just enough to feel ( move out )the slack.
    You place your hand on the outer joint then the inner joint and jou will feel the bad tie rod end. If the tie rod is severly worn you actually see it to move.

    With the wheels on the ground you can observe the tye rod joints as a helper moves the steering wheel back and forth. You may see some play in the joints if they are excessively worn. Then you may want to lift the vehicle and complete the front end component inspection. Let us know what you find!
