Question: HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU NEED ROTORS

I SAW MY PADS GETING LOW,WENT TO A REPAIR SHOP TO CHECK. I STILL HAD NOT REACH THE WARNING BAR.BUT I REDID THE REAR PADS BECAUSE THE PRICE WAS RIGHT. I DID NOT DO THE FRONTS ON THE HONDA BEACUSE HE SAID I NEEDED ROTORS AND PADS. THE CAR HAS 80K THESE PADS HAVE 40K ON THEM ALSO THEY ARE NOT REACHING THE WARNING BAR NO SUEALING OR PULSATING RUNS GOOD . HOW CAN I TELL IF I REALLY NEED ROTORS OR IF THE MECHANIC IS JUST LOOKING TO ADD TO JOB.. SINCERELY STEVEN H

    The fastest way to do it is to get a second opinion and see if another shop says the same thing.

    The technical way to determine this is to measure the rotor. Different rotors have different thresholds for when they should be replaced--in other words, they get thinner over time. Not sure what the right number is for your car, though.
