I own a 98 VW Jetta. I attempted in starting my car and the battery was drained; everything was off in the car overnight. Keep in mind that my locks don't work properly, but as soon as i closed the driver door my car locked me out and the panic alarm went off. I had my keys in my hand and the remote quit working. I unhooked the battery and as soon as I hook it back the alarm sounds. I have no idea what to do.

If your locks don't work right could be the issue. If your key works the door locks, try to lock and unlock the drivers and maybe the passengers door. Without the key fob it would be the next thing to try.
