I have a 1986 honda crx HF. How do you test the igniter? I have a 4 pole igniter and the books show how to check a 2 pole igniter. Is the HF different from the other crx?

I just read the process for checking the ignitor and there are other things that needs to be check before we get to that point. With the distributor cap removed, have someone to turn the engine over, be careful not to have anything in the engine compartment for safety, and watch the rotor. Does, it rotate, if not the timing belt is broken. Fuel injected model. Does the check engine light come on? Do we have fuel pressure? These are signs of another posible problem. The care should be checked by a professional at this point.

This car has a carb. I checked the timing belt. No check engine light. The fuel pressure is in spec. I did a spark test and it was very weak low orange spark.
