how do I replace the strut shield? on 2004 Chevrolet Tracker

I'm replacing the struts and shocks along with the strut mount

You didn't say 2 or 4WD, you will be able to remove the complete strut assemblies yourself but will need to bring them to tire shop to get them to compress the spring and replace the top mount. The assemble is under huge pressure and will injure you if you try to disassemble it yourself. There is a company that independent auto repair shops get their information from, this same information is available inexpensively for people that work on their own cars.. The information is year make and model specific, covering repair procedures, torque specifications, fluid capacities and specifications, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect....
