Question: how do I replace the inner tie rod?

Question

Visitor, 1.5L 4 Cylinder, Shelbyville, IN, March 22, 2011, 10:46

I have to replace the inner tie rod on the passenger side-crash damage. I have the outer tie rod end off and the rack dust boot off. Can I just loosen the inner tie rod from the rack with out holding on to the inner part of the rack? How do I hold onto the inner part if I need to?

there are universal tools available to remove or unscrew it from the rack. you can get them at parts stores to rent or own.
