The input and output speed sensors are used by the automatic transmission control module to determine the transmission is functioning correctly, if the transmission has a problem it may set a code, a scan tool can be used to read sensor values and determine whats going on with the transmission.

my car does the same thing it will start driving slow and wont get to normal speed until it reaches 20 miles and then it will jerk but I found out what the problem is..its the input/output transmission speed sensor...maybe this is the problem to your vehicle too.
