How do I adjust the E-brake on a 06 (standard, 4x4,4cylinder)? on 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I have 06 Tacoma: 4 cylinder, 4x4, standard. The E-brake pull is below the dash. Despite pulling as far as possible, it will not grab. Where is the adjuster located, or, what is the process to solve the problem. Thanks

Thanks for your speedy reply. I thought there was some adjustment along the cable from the hand pull. Are you saying that it is the same adjustment nut in the rear wheel as for the ordinary brake pedal? Thanks

YES , proper order IS to adjust regular drum brake shoes FIRST , then if necessary , adjust the handbrake cable. IF HANDBRAKE HAS BEEN ADJUSTED IMPROPERLY IN THE PAST , IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO LOOSEN IT BEFORE REAR SHOES CAN BE ADJUSTED.- Make sure e-brake levers on both sides are fully retracted (no tension on cable/lever) ....HINT--Might be worth having someone work the e-brake lever while you watch underneath , to be sure everything is moving properly(no siezed cables or levers)Good luck.
