Follow this procedure to reset the GM oil life system on your Venture Van:
Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
• If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is reset.
• If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on for five seconds, try to reset the system again.

sjsjaguar is incorrect. There is not a sensor that "looks" at the oil. The engine computer calculates when to change the based on how the vehicle is driven. Total mileage along with trip length and frequency of trips are used to determent when the change oil light will come on. The change oil light will not automatically reset when you change the oil, it must be reset.

In the owner's manual under the maintenance section for oil change. The notes indicate a sensor detects the condition of the oil and the light will turn on. If the oil is not changed when the light is on then there is a risk the EGR system will accumulate carbon deposits and the check engine light will turn on. I finally changed my oil and the change oil light turned off and the check engine light turned off after a few miles on the highway. This occurred twice. The check engine light remained on until I changed the oil and went off a few weeks later when I had significant highway trips.

Turn the key to the on position but do not start the vehicle. Once all the lights come on, press the accelerator to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds, then turn the key off, this should turn the light off. It may take a few tries to get the light off.

I have a 2004 venture van. The way to reset the oil light to turn it off after an oil change is to turn the ignition on but do not start. Then press and hold the odometer button for a few seconds and it will reset to 100.
