Answer #1
Have someone push down on the hood while you pull on the hood release, but you will need a new hood latch cable installed by a body shop or repair shop even if you get it open
Best Answer
I just went through this with my TT. I called Zimbrick Audi in Madison and the service guy was a total jerk. I tried pushing on the hood and poking around at the latch and nothing helped. I tired to find a Clinton or Hayned Manual to help and found nothing to help.
So here's what you need to do.
*remove the front tire on the drivers side.
*remove the plastic wheel well liner
*look up inside the top of the well and you should see a black cable running through here. If you wiggle it, you should be able to hear to move the release latch under the hood. Also if you have someone to help have them gently rest their hand on the hood release lever inside the car. If they can fell movement when you tug on the wire, your on your way to getting the hood opened.
*I took a knife and removed about 2" of the black coating to reveal the metal flex tube the release cable is in.
* I cut the cable and peeled back the metal flex to expose about an inch of of the release cable.
*I grabbed the cable with a pliers and gave it a hard pull and the hood "popped" up.
*After the hood was open I took plastic zip ties and routed the cut wire across the engine compartment so the hood can close but I still have access to opening the hood without having to remove the front tire again.
*Now I can replace the cable when I decide and not when my car decides.
*I took a pictures and I will try to post here.
*Good luck and you have a ton more information then I did.
