2000 Honda Passport Problems

The fuel level sensor may fail resulting in erratic fuel gauge operation and illumination of the Check Engine Light. Replacement of the fuel sender assembly is recommended to correct this concern. A powertrain control module (PCM) software update may be necessary for the updated fuel level sensor to read correctly.
On automatic transmissions the accumulator cover can leak due to failed o-rings. Replacing the o-rings and cover will address this issue.
A broken hatch button can cause the rear hatch not to open when you push the release button. Replacing the button should repair this issue.
On some models the powertrain control module (PCM) software delays idle speed changes during cold starts causing stalling problems. A software update from Honda will repair this particular issue.
Certain models may have a vibration issue at highway speeds that could be due to uneven tire pressures, tire rim out of specs, wheels out of balance, AC compressor bracket bolts not torqued correctly, misalignment of the steering shaft coupler, improper ride height, or wheel alignment out of adjustment. A qualified technician is needed to sort out these problems and correct them.
On certain models contamination of the grease on the gas pedal potentiometer causes the Check Engine light (MIL) to come on and may cause a rough idle. The potentiometer will need to be replaced and adjusted to fix this problem.
On some models, the right motor mount cover can hit the chassis and cause a vibration at idle. Replacing the motor mount will repair this issue.
