Honda Odyssey Recall 12V062000
Rear Power Liftgate May Not Stay in the Open Position
Body, Interior & Misc., February 16, 2012
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
The power operated rear liftgate may not stay in the open position due to failed support struts.
What Should You Do?
Honda will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning March 13, 2012. If you are experiencing problems with the rear liftgate, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The gas-filled struts that help to raise and support the power liftgate may fail prematurely due to a manufacturing flaw. The flaw can result in leakage of the pressurized gas, leading to reduced strut performance. Unexpected closure of the liftgate may occur due to the failed struts, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace both lift gate gas struts to correct this concern. The Honda recall number is S22.
