Honda Odyssey Recall 11V180000

Front Windshield Wipers May Fail to Operate

Body, Interior & Misc., March 15, 2011

RepairPal Expert Overview

Our Quick Take:

The front windshield wipers may fail if they are turned on when the rubber wiper blades are frozen to the windshield. If the wipers fail, the driver's visibility may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.

What Should You Do?

We at RepairPal have designated this a medium priority recall; this would change to high in colder climates where the chance of encountering freezing temperatures is greater. Please contact your Honda dealer; they will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.

Summary:

If the front windshield wipers are turned on when the wiper blades are frozen to the windshield, one of the linkage rods may bend or separate from the wiper motor. If the windshield wipers fail to operate, the driver's visibility can be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the affected front wiper rod with one of a stronger design. This recall is expected to begin by April 14, 2011. The Honda recall number is R72.
